Boston: The Waking City

Scribbles From Marty's Notebook, Page 1

Saturday night

Carmen Diaz running for state senator on an anti corruption campaign. Currently a community activist.

Reception at the omni parker hotel. Thomas (and friend Sam) at the reception. Bethany and Zoe working the event. Me, Mei Ling and Becky were enjoying a nice post arrest celebration dinner in the North End when Becky gets one of her flashes about Carmen Diaz and we have to go.

David O’Keeffe white court vampire. Thomas watches him. Appears to be a nemesis of Thomas although Thomas doesn’t really know why.

Assistant Julie complains of electrical problems. Argument between Diaz aide and another gentleman. Complaining Diaz is a sellout to corporate interests. Gentleman is a former coworker in the non-profit, Brian.

Huge fight breaks out and we all end up trying to break it up. Looks like it was caused by some kind of magic. Further research shows it was magically spiked punch. During the fight David O’Keeffe hauled an innocent into the cloak room. Marty confronted him and ended up shooting him which didn’t do much. He socked Marty but good and and Mei Ling ended up beating him up. Marty arrested him on multiple assault charges. O’Keeffe vowed we had not seen the last of him.

Sean & Kevin Mallory, attempted to abduct Diaz. They are former Rob Flanagan associates who is now deceased. We don’t know much yet but it looks like these two have never been more than two bit muscle. Not sure who they’re working for now. Thomas, Becky, and Zoe put a stop to that and Thomas whisked the candidate to safety. Becky arrested the two Irish thugs and they are being held for questioning.

Sunday morning

Kara O’Keeffe, meeting at the Yard house for lunch. Apparently happy we arrested her brother David. She’s the family lawyer though so it’s likely David will walk. Kara did not shed any light on why David has it in for Thomas.

Kara mentioned two cousins, Aidan and Alana who have been missing one month. The two are very close but not really popular with the mainstream O’Keeffe’s. Kara stopped short of saying that she thinks the cousins are involved in the hotel fight but admitted they might be capable of such a thing. It sounds like they have both the skills and the willingness to perpetrate such an act. They kind of creep Kara out which is saying something.

Marty is of the opinion that we’re looking at some rage suckers trying to set up a smorgasbord and Kara is trying to distance her family from those shenanigans.
